About

This is the blog of Pin Lu. I came to the UK in 1999 from China. I’m a cell and molecular biologist by training, and had worked in Newcastle University and Edinburgh University, but have since found my interest in online publishing and writing. After leaving scientific research, I had worked for the Guardian‘s Weibao project as an editor for some time. I’m now a web developer and freelance journalist for several Chinese publications including Economic Observer (EEO) newspaper and website (经济观察网), Nanfengchuang Magazine (《南风窗》), and Nandu Daily newspaper (《南方都市报》). I’ve been writing about various aspects of British economy, science, politics, media and culture. I live in Edinburgh.

Hi,
I read several comments on your webpage and quite like them. Just drop in to say hello and want to make a friend with you.
As a Ph.D student on literature in UoN, I feel ashamed of myself when reading your language. I know it’s never easy for a science student or a “scientist” or “a web developer” to improve his language to the level of sophistication of yours. Really admire your English.
Hope you are well.

Hi Jiaying,
There is no need to feel ashame of your English, a language which is not our native tongue, and which I all work hard to learn. It takes time and effort. And I’ve never thought my English is that sophisticated. Please drop by from time to time.
